"We spent 3 long days, each until Midnight, the first day accepting personal votes until 6.00 pm, and then opening postal votes until Midnight on the 3rd day. Throughout the whole period of opening postal votes my Secretary and I were regularly subjected to unacceptable and abusive behavior from certain observers ( all from the same side and you can draw your own conclusions as to which side they were from ), together with delaying tactics and objections designed to try and stall the election process and strike out as many of the postal votes cast by the opponents of the incumbent President.
Two observers were ejected from the Electoral room on my authority on 2 separate days, one by the security staff and one with the assistance of the Police. Unfortunately the person ejected by the Police was a member of Guadalmina, Luis Mansilla. He was warned by me the previous day that if he made one more threat to me or my Secretary he would be ejected. He made another threat on the next day and I had no choice but to order his removal from the room.
I am ashamed that such a "prominent "member of Guadalmina can behave in such a way.
On Tuesday morning I felt that there was no choice for myself and my Secretary but to resign. There was still one full box of postal votes to be opened and not one vote had been counted. In a statement to those present-observers, Junta representatives and representatives of the Federation I said that we were resigning because :
a) we were no longer prepared to put up with abusive and unacceptable behavior, which we believe was deliberately orchestrated to disrupt proceedings, and
b) we suspected that there was a high level of corruption in the electoral process which would, in my opinion, invalidate whatever result ensued.
All documents were then boxed up, sealed and handed over to a Notary.
The conclusions I draw personally from the past 4 days are:
1) The Spanish Legal and Administrative system ???
2) Corruption!
There are people who will stop at nothing to retain/acquire power for their own ends.
It was an experience, but not one I would want to repeat.

Roger Hughes,
President of the vote counting table RFAG election (third attempt)".

    Feliz Navidad
